In Nov 2004, Dr. Christopher and Dr. Julia Kim founded the "Asian Educational Cultural Foundation" (AECF), a non-profit, multi-cultural organization aimed at empowering the Asian-American community by creating partnerships transcending nations and cultures. The goal was to offer a new value perspective and to give birth to a moral revolution within the core of Asian culture.
Dr. Christopher and Dr. Julia Kim have worked for more than forty years in Asia, witnessing the extreme and harsh reality of widespread poverty. AECF was borne out of their determination to provide a solution towards alleviating the suffering of those communities. The mission was to address the problems of poverty, illiteracy, and environmental degradation by encouraging volunteers, especially the youth, to participate in worldwide humanitarian activities and aid in the identification of needs and the distribution of resources.
In August 2005, the name AECF was then changed to International Cultural And Educational Foundation (ICEF), Inc. Since then, ICEF has successfully conducted many international student leadership programs focused on service projects in Nepal, Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan and Korea. The feedback from the participants, their parents, and their schools have only been positive, and we are now carrying over this successful model to the United States to create lasting positive change within our youths through character education and active participation and co-ownership over sustainable projects.
